Air Fryer Omelets & Frittatas

I really love a good omelet. Some mornings on family vacation or over holidays, I will volunteer to be the “omelet lady.” People can pick exactly what they want inside and everyone ends up satisfied. I cook omelets low and slow, though, so I end up hovering over the frying pan for awhile.

Want to cut down that hover time? Let your air fryer do the work of the frying pan so you can do something else, like prepare another part of the meal, get ready for work, or kick your feet up with a cup of coffee. No more watching the pan or worrying about your omelet burning.

Let your air fryer do the hard work – you deserve it!

The Right Dish

All you need is a dish that fits inside your air fryer (that is large enough to hold all your ingredients). I purchased this baking pan that specifically fits my size and model of the Philips air fryer I own (here is the link to purchase on Amazon; here is the link to another pan for the XXL model with silicone baking cups. Make sure to check to see which one would fit inside your air fryer). I HIGHLY recommend it – I use it not only for eggs in the morning, but also for cooking marinated meats and baking treats. It fits perfectly in the basket and even has a little handle to safely lift it out of the fryer. You can pick up all shapes and sizes of air fryer baking pans at Target, Walmart, and of course, on Amazon, among other places. Whichever one you choose, measure your air fryer to ensure it fits since all models are different.

Steps for Making an Air Fryer Omelet for One

  1. Lightly oil or butter the bottom of your pan.
  2. Crack and beat two eggs in a bowl. Pour them into the pan that you will put in the air fryer.
  3. Sprinkle any omelet goodies you want in the eggs. (In the pictured omelet, I used cheese, leftover shredded chicken, and chives. I usually add a handful of chopped veggies, as well).
  4. Place your baking pan into the air fryer basket. Air fry at ~375 for 5 minutes.
  5. Open the basket to check on your omelet. Depending on how full you packed it, you may need more cooking time. The pictured omelet needed two more minutes in the air fryer at ~375.
  6. Once it is browned to your liking, slide it out with a rubber spatula and enjoy!
Try your best to evenly distribute the ingredients. I did not flip or fold this omelet like I usually do in a frying pan.
This pan is nonstick, so the omelet fell right out when I dumped the pan upside down!

Making a Frittata for Two

Why stop at an omelet? This pan is deep enough that you can make a frittata for two!

The frittatas you see below were made with 3-4 eggs, herbs and spices, and a few handfuls of fresh veggies and cheese. Follow the the same steps as above. Get creative with your flavor combinations. Eggs are such a great blank canvas! You may need to air fry for a bit longer, depending on what’s inside. I would start with 5 minutes at ~375, check on the frittata, and continue to air fry for 1-2 minutes at a time until desired consistency and color is achieved.

Cherry tomatoes, mozzarella, green onions, and fresh basil
Kale, feta, green onions, and red pepper flakes
Broccoli, red peppers, feta, and cheddar

Meal Planning

I love having eggs in the morning, but on work days, I’m often tempted to turn to a simple bowl of cereal instead if I am crunched for time. Making eggs in the air fryer can be just as easy as pouring yourself a bowl of cereal if you do a few things ahead of time.

On a good week, I try to keep chopped veggies on hand in air-tight containers in the fridge. Not having to dice and chop in the morning means I can quickly throw things together in the baking pan and finish my morning routine while the eggs are cooking on their own. You can even crack and beat the eggs the night before and keep them in the fridge in a Mason jar or tupperware.

I’m not much of a morning person, but I love how the air fryer opens up the possibility of a hot breakfast without slaving over the stove. Hip hip, hooray! Happy air frying!
